The yoga and meditation centre is located in a seven-acre orchard in a village near Hosur and includes yoga/meditation halls, amphitheatre, cottages, dormitories, dining facilities and a telescopic observatory. The self-sustainable centre’s design is inspired by yoga postures where structure and form reflect a body balanced but poised with a gesture of movement sitting comfortably in the landscape. Walls and roofs are angled. A limited palette of locally sourced and recycled material includes timber, stone, concrete, brick and coconut husks. Pathways weave through the landscape past a water retention pond, lotus pond, and water channels leading to a still-water court.
