A base build had been completed when the architects were approached to develop an alternative design for the ten-storey building. They felt that the rectangular form of the structure was alien to its environment. A contemporary design was proposed that could be constructed to overcome the extreme climate, and traditional building technology available. The 67-room resort takes inspiration from igloos as an organic response to shelter. Concrete-covered mesh and a thermally isolated facade are supported by a framed structure. Diatomite, a chalk like surface is applied. Internally, medium density fibreboard and cut Corian create shifting planes and dome-like shapes.
