Bidabad House
Isfahan, Iran

This family house, located in a historic district of Isfahan, provides self-contained accommodation for parents at basement and ground levels, son on the first floor and daughter at the second-floor level. The shared staircase acts as a communal space and climatic buffer between the exterior and interior of the building. Redundant spaces below and above the stairs are designed to allow views of the sky and light to penetrate the building. Elevations have been designed with a ‘dalan’(reception) and small yards creating a modern exterior in harmony within its context. The windows of the introverted building open onto green spaces without impinging on useable space.
