The resort is located in a fertile region of volcanic mountains, rice terraces and black-sand beaches. The site is entered through a series of guest facilities including a reception pavilion, verandas, courtyards and pools. The restaurant terrace and spa incorporate dark terracotta screens, terrazzo floors and feature volcanic lava stone walls. Villas characterised by smooth terrazzo, silk-upholstered furniture and private plunge pools screened with timber are located strategically to enjoy views beyond. Many innovations have been incorporated in this ecologically sensitive project, including an irrigation system that links to local cultural and religious practices. Building orientation and design respond to the climate, minimising environmental impact.
