This refurbishment project of a 1960s building into office accommodation is located in Akatlar, formerly a residential neighbourhood of Istanbul. Although it now functions as an office, its morphology is similar to a residential building. The five-storey building is clad in fibre concrete and timber panels. Due to height restrictions the upper section is hidden behind a parapet and has a hip-roof. The garden is transformed into an external social space. Balconies feature on every floor and a steel fire escape stair punctuates the rear elevation. The project illustrates how an office building can be well integrated into existing residential fabric.
