This new campus is located in the centre of New Cairo. Abdelhalim-CDC oversaw the masterplan and completed five of the buildings. The campus is organised around a pedestrian spine with secondary routes defining entrances. This hierarchy of space lends the plan a coherence that facilitates future development and connects the campus to the community. Local history, climate and culture define the architectural language to inspire pride while the spatial sequence encourages interaction and introspection, meeting the objective of training mind, body and spirit. The school of Performing and Visual Arts defines the ceremonial entrance and is connected to the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, forming the ‘University Arcade’.
