This commercial promenade is based in Nabq Bay - an area destined for high density tourist development. Its development took a turn, post the Sharm El Sheikh terrorist attack in July 2005, to be underpinned by an humanitarian approach to its design. This approach, to provide openness and integration within the different cultures which co-exist in Sharm El Sheikh, is seen in both the master plan and architectural styles. On the master plan level, many piazzas open directly onto the main street without any fences or barriers. On the architectural level, there are many different styles which reflect the multi-cultural residents and visitors.
