This charitable project, building homes for people in one of the poorest settlements in El Haggana, outside Cairo, was started by the architect and is financed through a fundraising campaign. Four houses have been completed to date. In a departure from the overcrowded and unsanitary conditions under which people in the area live, the houses are designed in accordance with industry standards, with attention to comfort, privacy, ventilation, lighting and good sanitation. In addition to providing living spaces for the residents of El Haggana, the project also provides crafts training and equipment to the residents creating more employment opportunities.
