The reconstruction improves and expands the centre’s two old buildings that were severely damaged during the war. The new Teacher Training Centre houses academic and administrative functions, including an auditorium, a library, and classrooms equipped with audio-visual systems. Respecting the original structure, the modern reconstruction was achieved by introducing appropriate techniques and using local resources, to insure the brick and cement structure would be earthquake resistant. Traditional Afghan techniques were utilised in the ornamentation, particularly in the brickwork.
