This Cineplex rehabilitates an area of little-used parkland and responds to its natural environment. Two 300 seat cinemas are stacked at either end of a sinuously curving building, connected by open space comprising an underground exhibition hall, covered entrance plaza and a food court at the upper level. These urban spaces create a dialogue with the city and are connected to it by curving ramps, continuing the topographic pathways through the park. The steel and concrete structure is exposed and glazed and internal walls are hammered concrete or faced in hand-made steel sheets to give texture.
