The staff housing for METU's North Cyprus campus has been developed in a high-density form to minimise its environmental impact. It is carefully sited to create natural shade and generate controlled cross-ventilation. Solar shading and insulation further reduce energy consumption. The complex is designed to accommodate around 700 people in a mix of 4 detached houses, 21 row houses and 56 apartment blocks. The structure is of reinforced concrete, while the elevations are a mix of white render, fairface concrete and the traditional local building material, yellow stone.
