Central Park
AĆÆn TĆ©mouchent, Algeria

The park provides much-needed green space for the new town of Ain TĆ©mouchent. It has three components, each with a distinct character. The lower part is designed along the lines of a traditional Islamic garden, and incorporates a botanical garden with specimens of almost all the ornamental plants found in Algeria. The upper part uses the same construction materials but has a totally different function, as an urban forest providing refreshing shade during the summer. The third part has play equipment for children and spaces where the older inhabitants of the town can meet and relax.
