Vedat Semiz House
Bodrum, Türkiye

To get around 'outdated' building regulations this house was 'exploded' into three separate pods, each with the maximum allowable footprint of 75 m2 and a distinct function - master bedroom/bathroom, kitchen/dining and guestroom/study. Concrete ramps link the various pods to a central glazed atrium, which serves as both the entrance and the main living space of the house. The construction is of concrete, steel, local stone and glass - the electronically operated windows in the atrium can slide open flush to the ground, allowing sea breezes to flood the space.
