This building houses a small museum dedicated to the Bahraini musician Mohammed bin Faris, who was an exceptional exponent of the musical art known as Al Sout. His original home - a late-19th-century courtyard house - had deteriorated to the point where it was economically unviable to restore it by conventional means. A decision was therefore taken to rebuild it using the contemporary materials of concrete blocks and RC slabs, combined with traditional finishes. The approach aimed to achieve a harmony between traditional and modern building techniques that took into account the limits of the budget.
