The motto of this project is, don't demolish and build anew, when you can rehabilitate and renovate (and in the process help conserve an eroded urban fabric). In this instance, an abandoned cotton warehouse has been refurbished as a furniture warehouse and showroom. The main intervention was to add a new perforated facade, made of corrugated metal. The slanting light that comes through the small windows represents 'the memory of light penetrating into the old building'. The integrity of the internal structure was preserved through the use of a restricted palette of materials - brick, concrete and steel.
