The National Library occupies a four-hectare site in the very centre of Tunis. It consists of four parts: public areas, including reception hall and reading rooms; book stacks; administrative offices; and laboratory workshops for book restoration and conservation. The structure is of reinforced concrete. The facades are clad in local pinkish marble selected to harmonise with extensive panels of reflective glass.
