The mosque follows the simple layout based on a square, domed prayer hall, preceded by an arcaded courtyard. The entrance is placed on Khalaf al-Ahmar street and is flanked on the right handside by the three-tier minaret. The two street facades and the minaret are decorated with alternating courses of black and white stones recalling buildings in Mamluk tradition. The mezzanine level is situated above the arcade leading into the prayer hall. Both the use of salvaged materials and the participation of the inhabitants in the construction process contributed to reduce the building costs.
