Haifa Street Heritage Houses
Baghdad, Iraq
These houses illustrate a transitional style of architecture. They constitute a synthesis of the typical Baghdadi house-type and some elements introduced from the West. The traditional inward-looking courtyard house was transformed into an outward-looking building with a central covered hall. Structural repairs as well as restoration of brickwork and teakwood joinery were carried out.
