The institute offers training in hotel management and maintenance in an area where tourism is of vital economic importance. In addition to teaching facilities, it contains administrative offices and a 300-seat amphitheatre. The form of the main building references the traditional Djerba house (the 'menzel'), which is generally a pure, simple cube. Local materials -- stone, brick and wood -- are combined with a reinforced-concrete structure.
