Bhadli Village Rehabilitation
Bhadli, India

The rehabilitation of the earthquake-ravaged village of Bhadli, in Gujarat, has been carried out following the footprint of the original village, but now ensuring the structures are seismic-resistant by making them a homogeneous unit, and cyclone-resistant through special roof construction. Recovered material has been used wherever possible. The programme has been extended to handle basic domestic sanitation, watershed management and exploitation of new technologies such as photo-voltaic cells.
