Shell Kiosk
Mahdia, Tunisia

The two-storey building is an irregular volume interspersed with terraces. It is conceived on a triangular site plan and is characterized by a series of diamond shaped window openings on the harbour side, and a cupola above the restaurant. The service station occupies half of the ground floor and a sunroof extends over the gas pump area. The other half serves as a café. The cupola of the restaurant on the upper floor is segmented to allow natural light to enter. The structure is made with a reinforced concrete skeleton, natural stone walls infill for exterior walls, hollow block for interior, and chalk cement rendering of structural parts.
