The phosphate-mining town is being rehabilitated as a green city, and the media library is located between the old and new cities; the site features a delipidated phosphate- drying plant. The facility contains several media rooms, an auditorium, a cafeteria, and offices, all organised around a large water-pool and planted areas that provide cooler air for natural ventilation; solar panels on the roof provide electricity. The concrete structure features freeform cut-outs in some roofs and walls, and some areas are clad in naturally-oxidised metal to reflect local mining activities. As well as an educational facility, the venue is popular for community activities and cultural events.
