The mosque is located within the Heritage Quarter and part of a 30-hectare development project for downtown Doha.&nbsp;Intended to express modernism within the context of traditional Qatari architecture, the mosque takes the form of a perfect cube that emphasises simplicity, functionality, and spirituality.&nbsp;It is constructed of white local stone, and the perforated, patterned roof of the prayer hall permits the entrance of tempered natural light.&nbsp;A stone colonnade encloses the courtyard which features a pond and water channel and is planted with pomegranate, olive, and date trees.
