While ensuring privacy from the exterior, the concrete and brick secondary residence blurs the distinction between inside and outside through the use of courtyards. The interior spaces surrounding the courtyards are glazed with large glass doors that open fully, expanding the interiors into the courtyards; when desired, moveable partitions may be closed to seclude the interiors. The living spaces are located on the ground floor, and the upper floor contains bedrooms; the master bedroom gives on to an upper courtyard, and the other bedrooms are provided with balconies onto the courtyards below. Circulation is provided through a central core with a staircase that continues to the roof where a portion is used as a terrace.
