Revitalisation of Eduljee Dinshaw Road & Pursukoon
Karachi, Pakistan

This project took a collaborative approach with stakeholders to devise a plan to rehabilitate the area around the Karachi Port Trust, a prominent colonial edifice built to indicate the importance of Karachi to the commerce of Empire. The first phase of the project saw the preservation of the historic Eduljee Dinshaw Road and the buildings flanking it, including the Karachi Port Trust, the new Custom House, and a Hindu temple, in what is now dense, lower income area. The second phase involved the redesign of the old square, or chowk, reclaiming it as a public space and cultural hub, providing a much needed pedestrianised zone in this congested area.
