Evliya Çelebi informs us that Çamlıca Garden was built during the reign of Mehmed IV, and he includes it as one of the forty imperial gardens. In her memoirs, Leyla Saz (Harem’in içyüzü, 234–35) notes that Çamlıca was a place around Istanbul where both men and women could go on summer excursions.
