The project includes two new additions to the 2003 Karakalpakstan State Museum of Art building and marks the completion of the second construction phase of the museum master plan. The 2003 building only had enough capacity to display three percent of the museum’s large collection of Russian avant-garde art and Central Asian archaeology and folk art. The new buildings greatly increase the museum’s exhibition space and include proper storage and conservation facilities for the collection, as well as a library and cafeteria. The architecture is designed to blend harmoniously with its surroundings, a large urban park at the centre of Nukus.
