An open-air shopping centre and commercial events space on a strip overlooking the Alexandria/desert road, Designopolis is a popular, easily accessible destination for interior and exterior design needs, adjacent to upscale residential and commercial areas. The architect was commissioned to create a concept for the urban design of the site as well as the landscape and hardscape architecture of the site. The concept involved the creation of a "meandering public realm" connecting the buildings in unique ways with a network of paths and irregular plazas set among buildings. The paths are twisted and turned, lined with rows of olive trees, creating a green network of circulation and functional zones for activities.
