One of the first examples of the transformation and reuse of an industrial edifice in Kosovo, the Klan Kosova building’s architectural concept is generated from the reuse and recycling of materials. The building recycles not just materials from the exisiting structure, a factory manufacturing shock absorbers, but also incorporates recycled materials from other parts of the country, utilizing bricks from the ruins of the houses burned during the war, for example. The building houses offices, studios and technical areas, all enclosed within a façade envelope composed of recycled railway sleepers of different sizes that create a play of light and shadow.
