The Islamic Center of Virginia was established in 1973, and quickly purchased land on Buford Road to build a mosque.&nbsp;Construction of the mosque was completed in 1985.&nbsp;Phase I was completed in 1984-85, with additions made in 1991.&nbsp;The parking lot was expanded in 2005.&nbsp; SOURCES:Islamic Center of Virginia.
