The house addresses the needs of modern living by the addtion to the main house of a kitchen and bathroom, otherwise not availbale in single-unit homes. Sitting, eating, sleeping, and working functions have been segregated by using different levels for each. Outdoor patios and terraces are used on the north and south sides for climatic reasons. The guest room is designed as an independant unit to help preserve the proportions of the main structure, and to better organize external space use. The buildings are constructed on load-bearing stone walls 50cm in thickness. Most of the stone used for the construction was obtained from a local quarry.
