The Bay County Islamic Society was founded in 1984, and according to Omar Khalidi, their mosque on Token Road in Panama City was built in 1990-1991 by the architect&nbsp;Medhat Ernesky.&nbsp;It is an example of what Khalidi calls "innovative" mosque design, or one that departs from traditional Islamic elements and style.<div> </div><div>The building is single-story and faced in brick, with no minaret or dome.
