Bronwen Gulkis is a PhD candidate in the History of Art and Architecture at Harvard, where she specializes in the art of Islamic South Asia. Her dissertation examines the development and circulation of painting and calligraphy albums in 17th century Mughal India. She has previously worked on the Harvard Art Museums exhibit Technologies of the Image: Art in 19th Century Iran and the Freer and Sackler Galleries' Yoga: The Art of Transformation. As a Mughal specialist who straddles the boundary between South Asian and Islamic art, she hopes to study Stuart Cary Welch's impact on the field in greater depth in the future. Involved with the Stuart Cary Welch Islamic and South Asian Photograph Collection since its arrival at Harvard, she is the curator of the online exhibit “Details, Delight, and Documentation: The Stuart Cary Welch Islamic and South Asian Photograph Collection.”
