Skopje, Macedonia, the former Yugoslav Republic of
Kursumli An is a mid-16th century Ottoman caravanserai located in the Old Town area of Skopje. It served as an inn until the late 18th century, when it became an Ottoman prison, and again for a short period in the early 20th century.
The square plan building is roofed in a series of pyramid-shaped domes, originally covered in lead, giving the caravanserai its name "Lead Bazaar." Ground floor rooms were used for storage, with sleeping quarters above. Rooms to accommodate livestock were also constructed.
