Stefano Bianca, a Swiss architect and architectural historian, holds a master degree and Ph.D. from ETH in Zurich and has spent much of his professional life in the Muslim world. As of 1976, he has directed a number of major planning, urban design and conservation projects in cities such as Fez, Aleppo, Baghdad and Riyadh. From 1992-2006, Stefano was the director of the Aga Khan Historic Cities Support Programme of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture in Geneva.
Stefano Bianca has widely published in the fields of Islamic architecture, cities, gardens and arts. His books include"Hofhaus und Paradiesgarten" (Munich 1991 and 2001) and "Urban Form in the Arab World -- Past and Present" (London and New York, 2000).
