Kem Chicks Supermarket
Jakarta, Indonesia
The design adopts the typical supermarket layout, with the main entrance close to the cashier counters and a service entrance at the rear end with direct access to the storage area. The ground floor accommodates the shopping area, whereas the first floor is divided into offices, a restaurant, and a storage space. The design is unique as the architects have tried to recreate the forms and atmosphere of a traditional private house on a larger scale. This has been achieved by employing traditional pitched-roof forms, with red clay tiles and overhangs exposing the timber trusses.
