Eco Resort Berg en Dal
Berg en Dal, Suriname

The Berg en Dal Estate, measuring around 2400 hectares was acquired by C. Kersten & Co. in 1870. Over the years the estate lost it functions, most of the buildings deteriorated. The architect was free to choose the location for the resort, including 45 lodges, reception areas, conference space, kitchen, restaurant and bar. The buildings fold naturally in the rain forest landscape. No tree has been scarified for the paths, roads or buildings. Also in material and use of colour, the buildings blend naturally in the forest.
