A commercial complex with 500 market stalls and a hotel for 200 guests. The bazaar complex consists of a series of octagonal, domed structures of varying sizes and heights, arranged in an informal layout around a central patio. These house the market stalls, administration offices and other shops. On the exterior, the domes assume melon-like shapes whose ribs are set back and entirely glazed, thus providing natural lighting to the interior spaces. The melon slice-shaped external sections of the domes are treated with a diaper pattern throughout. Detailing has been handled with care and includes lanterns, fountains, aptio benches, doors, gates and grilles using various media - wood, stone and iron work - and patterns inspired from the local architectural tradition. It is a pre-cast concrete structure.
