The park has been conceived as part of an urban redevelopment plan increasing open space in dense city centre fabric. An open-air amphitheatre in the form of a curving perforated aluminium structure is strategically located, dividing the park in three. This half-sunken structure works with the ground plane and acts as an extension of the landscape. The porous facade sweeps up to provide shade over a sunken stage and seating area. Land to the west provides a tranquil environment shaded by existing trees for events and markets. Open air sport fields are provided on land located to the east.
