Maillen Hotel and Apartment
Shenzhen, China
The hotel and serviced apartments gently grow out of a terraced and sloping landscape. The building follows the angular topography of the site, softened by courtyards and ponds between. Views from the apartment units extend across smaller planted courtyards. A link over the water feature at the centre of the site connects the gardens to each other. The design concept aims to express ‘hills outside hills’ and ‘gardens inside gardens’, creating a new generation of urban living. A special column frame structure has been used. Principal facade materials include aluminium, granite and glass, whilst the pitched roof finish is granite.
