Mont Timah

On a site bordering a tropical rainforest, this housing development has a resort-like atmosphere. Instead of traditional terraces, clusters of units are arranged as three-storey pinwheel-plan blocks divided into quarters. Circulation areas and lifts are placed in each block’s centre, allowing generous daylight penetration to the living spaces on the periphery. Adjustable louvre windows facilitate natural light and ventilation. Each unit has an enclosed outdoor area and two levels of roof terraces. Materials are chosen to be in harmony with the rustic surroundings, including new and reconstituted timber, natural stone, and reinforced concrete bearing the organic imprint of its pine formwork. Rich tropical landscaping softens the houses’ concrete edges.
