Compact House
Jakarta, Indonesia

The new two-storey rendered house stands on the site of a previous dwelling, now demolished. The surrounding wall was left untouched to contrast with the new white building. The main facade does not reveal an entrance. Access is gained through a service entrance to the left and the main entrance to the right past a small garden space. The steel framed sliding doors of the entrance maximise natural light internally. A limited budget has created innovative space planning and design solutions. This includes bespoke joinery (in the form of stair storage and folding wall-bed) and exposed painted brickwork throughout.
