Anadolu Comfort Hotel
Kocaeli province, Türkiye
Tranquillity is key to the design of this hotel, built to accommodate visitors to patients of a nearby hospital. Materials, colours and furniture forms used in its interiors are intended to generate a relaxed atmosphere. The earthquake-resistant structure comprises a glass fibre reinforced concrete shell and steel frame with insulating foam-concrete infill. A double-height triangular space at the entrance, with a facade of insulated glass panels point-fixed to laminated glass columns, houses reception, café and meeting areas. Currently a single 41-bedroom wing extends to one side of this space, but this capacity could be doubled through the addition of a similar wing to the other side, without disrupting existing services.
