Located 80 km north of Jeddah near the fishing village of Thuwal, the campus site includes a coral-reef ecosystem that will be preserved by the University as a marine sanctuary. The buildings are articulated within a sophisticated network of indoor and outdoor public spaces that take advantage of the exceptional site, maximizing the benefits of the unique ecosystem while mitigating the harsh climate. A monumental roof, equipped with solar panels, connects and shields the buildings from the sun while producing clean energy. The campus buildings are integrated with atriums and courtyards to allow natural light to enter and to facilitate natural ventilation into a majority of the interior spaces.
