Qeytarieh Apartment House
Tehrān, Iran
This four storey building, comprising four apartments for the client, her daughter and two tenants, is based on the concept of ‘porosity’. It aims to provide a sequence of inside and outside spaces, including open courts and balconies, to bring the outdoors inside. These varied spaces are unified by extensive use of brick to bring warm texture and colour to the building. The structure is exposed in many places to frame green views externally and define space internally. The project was constructed in a collaborative process with local masons and workers.
