Hammam
Bad Griesbach, Germany
The hammam, as a setting for health, cleanliness and social gathering, has been an important feature of Turkish culture for a long time, and its form is continuing to evolve. This project incorporates all the spatial properties and decorative elements of an original hammam within a modern spa in Germany. It is presented as a synthesis of modern and traditional architecture, using contemporary means to resolve technical details (such as the density of the 'sicaklik' dome). The original Turkish names for the spaces are retained, allowing Turkish users to feel at home and the German public to get acquainted with the tradition.
