Housing in Kutch
Mandvi, India
A housing scheme reinterpreting the Kutch architecture. The site layout is a group of clusters, each cluster divided into plots of about 300 m2. Each plot owner can choose one of the five prototype house designs. There are ten clusters of various sizes accommodating 170 houses. The houses are circular or semi-circular in plan, with the internal spaces arranged around a central ventilation shaft and covered by conical reinforced concrete roof.
