The four-storey hospital comprises wards planned around internal courtyards and connected by walkways at each floor level. This central core is surrounded by two-storey buildings housing the technical services and the general services. Projections, claustras, loggias and shutters achieve satisfactory climatic control without undue dependance on mechanical ventilation. Internal landscaped courtyards enhance air circulation, and the ochre colouring of the external facades is in line with local tradition.
