Sunaryo is a successful Indonesian artist. He originally conceived this building as a gallery for his own work, but then expanded the programme to establish a public space for art exhibitions, workshops and performances. The terraced spatial arrangement draws on the analogy of the paddy field, and provides for changing views of the green hills of Northern Bandung. The main materials used are locally available stone, artificial stone, ceramics and glass.
