Ruspina Hotel Extension
Monastir, Tunisia
The project involves the extension of an existing hotel, located on a flat site which overlooks the beach. The programme includes 13 separate complexes grouped perpendicularly to the hotel, each one of them containing six identical two-bedroom bungalows. Each complex is arranged with three units on the ground floor level, and three on the upper level. Extensions from the main structure form fins providing shade and privacy to the covered terraces of the ground floor. The contemporary treatment of the facades is characterized by pointed openings surmounted by diamond-shaped sun breakers and triangular screens set into balcony balustrades. It is constructed with a reinforced concrete frame and slabs, hollow brick infill, and white plaster rendering on the façades.
